Employment contract, mandate contract, B2B: which income do banks accept?
Banks treat different types of contracts very differently. Here's what counts and how long you need to have it.

In Poland there are several ways of being paid for work. For a bank, the key question is how stable your income is.
Employment contract (umowa o pracę)
- Permanent (na czas nieokreślony): the preferred option. Usually at least 3 months at the current employer, sometimes with a trial period accepted.
- Fixed-term (na czas określony): accepted, often with 6+ months of history and a contract that runs for a while after the application.
Mandate contract / contract for specific work (umowa zlecenie / o dzieło)
Accepted by some banks, usually after 6–12 months of continuous cooperation, ideally with the same client. Banks look at regularity – gaps between contracts are a red flag.
Own business / B2B (JDG)
Accepted after about 12 months of running the business (some banks require 24). Income is calculated from tax returns, so the form of taxation matters. See our separate article on B2B.
Mixed income
Many people combine a job with a side contract. Banks can add both, but each source must meet its own minimum history.
Tip
Changing jobs shortly before applying can reset the clock. If you plan a move, it is often better to apply first – or wait until the new contract has the required history.
